وقد حضر الإفتتاح القنصل العام لكوريا سانغ-كيون لي بجدة وألقى كلمة قال فيها :
It is my great pleasure and honor to host the 9th Jeddah Korea Business Show this year together with the prestigious Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry with a view to promoting business interaction between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Korea.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Korea have developed very close friendship and cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1962. In particular, the two countries have precipitated mutually beneficial business opportunities in their economic activities. Korea, lacking natural energy resources, has been importing about a third of its oil consumption from the Kingdom while the Kingdom has entrusted the execution of various important projects such as construction of power plants, desalination facilities and petrochemical plants to Korean companies.
Thanks to this close economic partnership, the total trade volume between the two countries reached 30.3 billion US dollars in 2018, marking Saudi Arabia the 8th largest trading partners to Korea and vice versa. Korea imported mostly oil and petrochemical products from the Kingdom, while exporting industrial and consumable goods such as automobiles, vessels, tires, weaponry, synthetic resins, transformers and others.
I am glad to tell you that since 2011 the Jeddah Korea Business Show has served as a valuable platform to introduce diverse Korean brand new goods to the business community in the Kingdom. In particular, a number of Korean cosmetic companies are participating in the catalogue show this year, aiming to enter the Saudi market. In addition, I am certain that the online B2B meeting and the special seminar will contribute to deepening understanding of the business needs and cultural traits of our two countries.
In closing, I look forward to meeting with you again at the next year's business show, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary, under the only growing partnership with the Jeddah Chamber to achieve common growth and prosperity in the rapidly changing global economic environment.
